![]() Longtime collaborators Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois pop up, not in a production role, but as background vocalists on “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”. ![]() Our favourite appearance? Ezra Mullen joins U2 on tambourine alongside his dad for “Stuck in a Moment”. There are some familiar names appearing on the album. Additionally he’s credited as the overall producer on the album, listed as producer for each song, and also listed as an engineer on fifteen of the tracks on the album. You can tell this project is very much his. It’s an impressive list that he’s credited on, including guitar, keyboards, piano, vocals, Rhodes, bass guitar, programming, dulcimer, bass, drum programming, Wurlitzer electric piano, and ukulele. If there are drums appearing on a track, other than these mentions, it is Larry that is credited. In a couple of spots drum programming is credited to others, such as “Peace on Earth” (The Edge), and “Desire” (Duncan Stewart) but Mullen is listed as drums and percussion on all of these tracks as well. Likewise on “Two Hearts Beat As One”, Larry is listed on percussion, but so is Duncan Stewart, a frequent collaborator of the band. Forero has toured with Wyclef Jean and Alicia Keys among others, and helped to develop music for Hamilton: An American Musical. On “Sometimes You Can’t Make it On Your Own” Larry is credited with drums and percussion, but Andres Forero is also credited with percussion. We know Larry had some injuries during the time this album was recorded, so a question we’ve heard often is whether or not it is Larry on drums throughout the album. On all of the songs of the album Larry Mullen is credited on drums and percussion. ![]() Bono also receives a producer credit on “With or Without You”. Neither are credited elsewhere on other instruments. Bono is listed as vocals on all of the tracks. On all of the songs of the album Adam Clayton is credited on Bass guitar. We’ll document a few things of interest from our own read through of the credits, and the credits will follow for those who want to take a look in detail. For those who aren’t, we are now taking a look at the credits for the songs on Songs of Surrender. If you are trying to avoid spoilers between now and Friday, now is the time to look away. Some fans have started to receive copies already through pre-orders, however, so keep an eye on your mailbox if you’ve ordered a copy of the album. The album Songs of Surrender arrives on Friday, March 17, 2023.
